Photography is more than a skill—it is a universal language capable of capturing emotions, perspectives, and untold stories. This Master’s program invites students to immerse themselves in the language of photography, enabling them to develop a personal voice and create meaningful work. The program also includes specialized masterclasses and workshops on AI-driven photography, offering a modern edge to traditional techniques and ensuring that graduates are prepared for the future of the industry.

This Master is ideal for a wide range of students, from professional photographers seeking to expand their creative horizons to journalists aiming to enhance their visual storytelling capabilities. Visual artists, graphic designers, and other professionals in the visual arts will find the program a powerful way to integrate photography into their work. Even those from entirely different fields who have a passion for photography and storytelling will discover the tools and inspiration they need to express themselves in new and impactful ways.

The Online Master in New Documentary Photography takes students on a journey through the rich history and evolving nature of documentary photography. From its origins to its current role in shaping contemporary narratives, students will gain a deep cultural understanding of the medium. Through the study of photographic language, they will learn to convey complex ideas visually, transforming abstract concepts into compelling imagery. More importantly, the program focuses on helping students find their unique voice, empowering them to develop a personal style that sets their work apart in the industry.

Over the course of 12 months, students will engage with a comprehensive curriculum divided into four key modules. The first module, Rethinking Contemporary Documentary Photography, challenges traditional boundaries and encourages students to explore innovative approaches. The second module, Contemporary Documentary Photography Language, equips students with the tools to craft visually powerful narratives. In the third module, How to Market Your Work and Make a Difference, students learn strategies for standing out in a competitive field, from leveraging social media to sharing their work through press and broadcast channels. Finally, the program culminates in the Master’s Final Project, where students apply their knowledge and skills to create a unique and impactful documentary project.

The program is led by two distinguished experts in the field. Fiorenza Pinna, a curator, educator, and designer of exhibitions and photobooks, and Toni Amengual, an acclaimed artist, photographer, and visual educator, bring their extensive knowledge and creative vision to guide students through the program. They are joined by a team of renowned global professionals and instructors, including Erik Kessels, Aaron Schuman, Gloria Oyarzabal, Jack Latham, Jon Uriarte, Laia Abril, and Max Pinckers, all of whom contribute their expertise to enrich the learning experience.
